Stunning details emerge as Man Utd tie down star man to huge new contract

Luke Shaw has penned a stunning new £195,000-a-week deal at Manchester United.

The Red Devils left-back, who was out of contract in 2019, has repaired his relationship with boss Jose Mourinho and has agreed on a five-year contract.

Shaw is understood to be delighted with the outcome, which sees him receive a significant rise on his previous £5million-a-year deal.

The former Southampton star looked set to leave United in the summer after a difficult last season, in which he was regularly criticised by Mourinho.

But the defender returned to pre-season training in tip-top shape and proved to the Portuguese he does deserve a place in the United first team.

He is now a regular under Mourinho, and has been a standout player this season, even netting for the Red Devils in their opening day win over Leicester City.

Now that Shaw is tied down for the foreseeable future, the United hierarchy will be looking to complete deals for the other 10 players with expiring contracts.

Among these are David De Gea and Anthony Martial, who could in theory leave the club on free transfers at the end of the season.

In both cases United have the option of extending their deals by another season, but they would ideally want them to pen new contracts.

De Gea has been on the radar of a number of top clubs in recent years, with Real Madrid favourites to land him at one point.

Los Blancos moved for Thibaut Courtois this summer, ending their interest in him, but Paris Saint-Germain are another team keen on the Spaniard.

Martial meanwhile hasn’t always seen eye to eye with Mourinho during his time at Old Trafford, and was another player who looked certain to leave this summer.

Currently, he’s on the fringes at Old Trafford but the board are keen on the forward, and he will likely sign a new contract.
