Strictly Come Dancing 2023 fans in meltdown as show legend makes surprise return

Ed Balls appears on Strictly Come Dancing to read the terms and conditions

BBC viewers were delighted when former Strictly Come Dancing star Ed Balls appeared in the show last night.

The former Labour MP made a rare appearance on the BBC dancing competition to read out the terms and conditions for voting.

Ed was a contestant in series 14 of Strictly and was paired with Katya Jones, surviving until Week 10.

During the latest instalment, he appeared from behind a panel of gold ribbons and started dancing his infamous routine to PSY’s Gangnam Style with Katya.

This was arguably his most memorable performance with the iconic Salsa routine making him a Strictly legend.

Many BBC watchers took to social media to voice their reaction at Ed’s shock return.

One person who posted on X, formally known as Twitter: “ED BALLS IS BACK #strictly.”

A second viewer typed: “Oh Ed Balls, what a lovely surprise #strictly.”

A third person commented: “YES!!!!!!! @edballs IS BACK!!!! #Strictly.”

A fourth chimed in: “It’s Ed Balls on Strictly again!!! #strictly.”

Ed appeared after the first live performance of the evening from Dianne Buswell and Bobby Brazier. 

20-year old Bobby, who is best known for his role in EastEnders, was awarded 29 points from the judges.

The pair danced a Charleston routine to Do Your Thing by Basement Jaxx.

Many people are convinced that he will go far in the competition.

One BBC fan penned on X: “This boy is gonna win Strictly… mark my words! Bobby Brazier.”

Another chimed in: “Bobby Brazier is utterly adorable. What an absolute light of a man #StrictlyComeDancing #Strictly.”

Strictly Come Dancing resumes on BBC One tonight at 7:15pm.
