Royals ‘will love seeing Mike Tindall covered in ‘muck and bugs’, says pal

Mike Tindall 's historic appearance in I’m A Celeb will be watched by the royal family who will take great pleasure in seeing him “covered in muck”, says a close friend of the rugby star.

The former rugby ace, who is married toQueen Elizabeth II’sgranddaughterZara, has kept his lips sealed about whether he got the approval of King Charles ahead of his prime time TV stint.

But Harlequins player Danny Care, who rose through the rugby ranks under the 44-year-old’s care and guidance, says they will be glued to the TV to watch Mike take on the bug-infested jungle.

Speaking exclusively to OK!, Danny said: “The whole family will be watching. Kate and Wills and I reckon Harry, too, firstly just to make sure he’s not saying anything he shouldn’t but also to see him covered in muck and bugs and snakes and stuff. They’ll love it.”

Few people know Mike better than Danny. Mike, 44, and Zara, 41, wereguests of honour when Danny, 35, married his wife Jodie, 31, in a ceremony covered by OK!in 2016.

And they witnessed Mike and his Zara tie the knot in a private ceremony in Edinburgh in 2011.

Danny, who has dubbed Mike a “gentle giant”, said along with taking on a protective role in the jungle he also won’t be afraid to get his hands dirty.

He told us: “I reckon he’ll be the dunny emptier. He doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty. He’s a northerner – any of the dirty stuff, give it to Mike. Or the heavy lifting. He’s a very hands-on dad – there’s going to be all sorts in there that’s way worse than kids nappies.

"He’s very competitive, too. I’ll love watching him do the challenges because he’s going to want to get all those stars. I’m sureAntandDecwill take great fun from putting him in some horrible situations.”

Mike and Zara – who he calls Zed – met in a bar in Sydney, Australia in 2003 – the night England beat Australia and won the rugby World Cup – and share three kids, Mia, eight, Lena, four, and Lucas, one.
