During a chat with Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden and her Heart breakfast co-presenter Jamie Theakston yesterday, Susan Boyle addressed her now former crush on Piers Morgan. The global singing sensation admitted two years ago that she was attracted to the former Good Morning Britain presenter and thought he was very clever.

The West Lothian star said at the time: “Now who wouldn’t like Piers Morgan? I took one look at him on Britain’s Got Talent and said, ‘I want you mate. I want you – come this way, Piersy Baby.”(sic)

“He’s a good laugh – he joins in. And he’s very clever too.”

However, the I Dreamed A Dream star appears to have made a u-turn since the pandemic hit and claims she’s more mature in her tastes now.

The radio presenters were in Glasgow for Global’s Make Some Noise charity when Amanda said to the opera singer: “Other television shows try and recreate the moment we had with Susan and they can’t do it. When she came on stage we thought she was a stand-up comedian.

“She’s obviously very funny and well she’s got a slightly dubious taste in men.

“Obviously she had a crush on Piers. She burst into song with I Dreamed a Dream and it went global and changed the course of history of TV shows forever.”

Hearing Amanda talk about her crush, Susan replied: “Who? I respect him, but I don’t fancy him. I’ve grown up a bit now.”

After she shared the news, it was only right that Heart Radio reported it to Piers.

They typed on Twitter: “The one and only @SusanBoyle popped in to surprise @AmandaHolden and @JamieTheakston on Heart Breakfast this morning in Glasgow! And sorry @piersmorgan but sounds like she’s finally over you.”

Piers replied with a crying emoji, adding “Crushing.”

In response, his fans shared that while Susan may be over her “crush” there are others who are still attracted to him.

@Mark30765839 said: “She dreamed the dream with you @piersmorgan but I’m sure lots of other men and women wouldn’t mind your company.”

While @Kroepster commented: “Hang in there Piers, must be devastating to hear this on the radio…”

@jintygal31 responded: “I wonder who she’s replaced you with Piers? As if anyone could!”

@Glorian62678817 typed: “I love @SusanBoyle such a decent person. Always down to earth and classy may I add!”

Susan shot to fame in 2009 after appearing as a contestant on the third series of Britain’s Got Talent, singing I Dreamed a Dream from Les Misérables.

Her debut studio album, I Dreamed a Dream, was released in November 2009 and became the UK’s best-selling debut album of all time, beating the previous record held by Spirit by Leona Lewis.

I Dreamed a Dream set a record for biggest first-week sales by a debut album, according to the Official Charts Company.

In her first year of fame, she is thought to have made £5 million (£6.8 million today).

The success was continued with her second studio album, The Gift (2010), where she became only the third act ever to top both the UK and US album charts twice in the same year.
