Nick Cannon's partner Alyssa Scott has posted a touching video of their son Zen, who tragically died this week.
The couple's young son passed away on Tuesday 7 December after a short battle with cancer, leaving the pair heartbroken. Alyssa Has since taken to Instagram to pay tribute, sharing a montage of heartwarming moments between her and her son.
She wrote: "Oh my sweet Zen. The soreness I felt in my arm from holding you is slowly fading away.
"It’s a painful reminder that you are no longer here. I caught myself looking in the backseat as I was driving only to see the mirror no longer reflecting your perfect face back at me."
In what has been a traumatic time for the family, she spoke of the impact her baby had on her, adding: "These last 5 months we have been in this race together. We would hand the baton off to each other. You kept me going.
"When I close a door too loudly I hold my breath and wince knowing a soft cry will shortly follow. It doesn’t come. The silence is deafening."
She concluded: "By your sister.. By God. By complete strangers encouraging me to not give up. It has been an honor and privilege being your mommy. I will love you for eternity."
Nick Cannon announced the heartbreaking news the on Tuesday during his show The Nick Cannon Show. With tears in his eyes, he said: "This weekend I made an effort to spend the most quality time with Zen.
"We woke up on Sunday and I felt like I wanted to go to the water, close to the ocean. So we got a chance to go to the ocean."
Nick, 41, added: "And usually on Sundays, I kind of handle everything I have to handle with the family and fly back to New York so I can be here for you all. But I wanted to make sure I had the sun to rise and hold my son. And holding my son the last time."
The couple found out their son was gravely ill after noticing a continuous cough and so took him to the doctors for a routine check.
They were told that Zen had fluid building in his head and a malignant tumour.

Speaking about their time with their son since his diagnosis, Nick paid tribute to Alyssa. He said: "Zen's mom, Alyssa, was just the strongest woman I've ever seen.
"Never had an argument, never was angry. Was emotional when she needed to be, but always the best mom, and continues to be the best mom.”
