Miley Cyrus has Sir Elton John joining her for a cover version of Metallica‘s “Nothing Else Matters.”
In a new interview with U.K. radio station Capital FM, Cyrus revealed that she has some rock legends helping her out with the upcoming cover, including John and the Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ Chad Smith.
“I did a Metallica cover of ‘Nothing Else Matters’ featuring Elton John on piano,” Cyrus told “Capital Breakfast” host Roman Kemp. “I’ve got Yo-Yo Ma, Chad Smith; so many all-stars.”
“I’m so excited about this collaboration. I’m really stoked. I love when ingredients don’t quite fit. Or it seems like a concoction that no one would ever put together, and you gotta have someone like [the song’s producer Andrew] Watt that will take that risk,” she added.
Cyrus, an admirer of Metallica, has won appreciation from Metallica bandmembers for her rock covers.
She got a shout-out on Instagram from a “stunned” Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich when she performed the Temple of the Dog classic “Say Hello 2 Heaven” at Chris Cornell‘s tribute concert in 2019. She also did a cover of “Nothing Else Matters” later that year.
“We’ve been working on a Metallica covers album and I’m here working on that,” she told Interview Magazine in October 2020.
