Mickey Guyton has revealed that her debut full-length album will be released this summer.
“Oh yeah, this is coming out this summer. I have so many songs … We might even be double album-ing it, I’m not sure,” Guyton said during a recent episode of the Apple Music country radio show “Land of the BRE.”
“Isn’t that crazy? There’s been artists that have been signed after me that have had full-on albums. This is my first album,” she told Breland.
A remixed version of Breland’s single “Cross Country,” also featuring Guyton, was released last week.
The rising country superstar made history at the 63rd Grammy Awards ceremony on March 14. She became the first Black female country artist to perform on the high-profile music awards show by singing her “Black Like Me” anthem.
The song was written amid the nationwide protests in the U.S. against George Floyd’s killing by a police officer.
