Michael Owen ‘to enter Love Island villa’ for infamous Meet The Parents episode

Gemma Owen’s footballer dad Michael isn’t exactly the biggest Love Island fan, but it looks as though that might not stop him heading into the villa.

The former Liverpool player is said to have been “barely watching” his 19 year old daughter’s stint in the show.

However, it’s now been claimed that when the infamous ‘meet the parents’ episode airs towards the end of the series, Michael, 42, could be among the family members jetting out to Majorca.

With the ITV2 series expected to end in early August, it’s thought the ep will be on our screens at the end of July – when presenter Michael is said to have zero BT Sport commitments.

A source told the Sun: “The end of July looks to be a golden opportunity for Michael to see Gemma.

“He’s notoriously private and anything could change between now and finals week but, all things considered, the odds on him taking part are better than ever.”

OK! has contacted Michael’s representative for comment.

If Michael does head into the villa, it looks likely Gemma will be introducing him to Luca Bish, as their relationship appears to be one of the strongest in the villa.

The duo have been coupled up since early on and recently withstood the Casa Amor ‘test’, shunning the advances of bombshells and instead choosing to recouple up.

However, fans expecting to see the pair make things official will be waiting a little while as Gemma recently stated she wouldn’t want to make such a huge decision while still in the villa.

And while she and Luca haven’t been seen discussing her famous dad, it’s believed the fishmonger does know who his father-in-law would be.

Gemma has mentioned Michael in the beach hut and spoke openly about him to Casa Amor’s Jack Keating, whose father is Boyzone’s Ronan.

She told him: “It's like a love-hate relationship between me and my dad.

“Our personalities are so similar, it's either we're getting on like a house on fire or clashing.”

Tonight’s Love Island will see the fallout from last week’s explosive recoupling continue.

Friday night’s episode saw both Tasha Ghouri and Coco Lodge in tears over Andrew Le Page, who has been accused of misleading them both.

Meanwhile, Paige Thorne was also left reaching for the tissues after learning the true extent of Jacques O’Neill’s Casa antics.
