Meghan Markle pays touching tribute to Harry’s mum Diana in first outing in The Hague

Meghan Markle has paid a sweet tribute to her husband Prince Harry's late mum Princess Diana in the couple's first outing in The Hague.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex touched down in The Netherlands for what's thought to be their first time back in Europe together since their royal exit back in 2020.

The couple appeared to beam as they walked down a yellow carpet for the reception ahead of the Invictus Games, which starts on Saturday 16 April.

While Harry donned a navy suit with a white shirt, which had the top buttons loose, Meghan wore a stunning white suit, complete with a blazer and trousers alongside a pair of matching high heels.

Meghan, 40, styled her brunette mane down for the occasion and looked incredible with a smokey eyeshadow and mascara as well as a nude lip.

Holding onto a white clutch bag, Meghan opted to wear a series of gorgeous gold jewellery, of which most have a special meaning behind.

Wearing the same diamond earrings she had on for her wedding to Prince Harry, 37, she also donned a Cartier watch that belonged to Princess Diana.

The watch is thought to have been a gift from Harry and was worth approximately £17,800 at the time, but is likely to have increased in value due to its history.

Diana, who sadly passed away at the age of 36 back in 1997, wore the timepiece on a number of occasions including when she visited London's Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Hindu Temple.

Meghan, whose husband's memoir will feature "festering mother issues" according to an expert, also wore a beautiful gold pendant necklace, which she also once had on in 2020. The necklace was made by designer Sophie Lis and has the engraving 'Qu'hier' after a diamond encrusted plus sign, and 'Que Demain' followed by a ruby minus sign.

The reference derives from a poem by 19th century French poet Rosemonde Gérard and translates to: "Every day I love you more, more than yesterday less than tomorrow."

Completing her jewellery, Meghan also wore a gold chain bracelet that stretched from her wrist to her ring finger.

Prior to Harry and Meghan's arrival on the yellow carpet, the couple met with the Ukrainian Invictus team.
