Love Island's Marcel Somerville 'attacked by machete-wielding moped gang'

Love Island’s Marcel Somerville was recently attacked by an armed moped gang over the weekend, according to reports.

The star was allegedly travelling with a friend in east London when the pair were set upon by a group of people wielding machetes.

While no one was hurt, the incident is said to have left the 34-year-old reality star – who is expecting a baby with his fiancee Rebecca Vieira – ‘shaken’.

A source told OK! magazine: ‘Marcel and his mate were driving around east London heading to their favourite restaurant and they noticed some people on mopeds getting close to them.

‘Each time they stopped at a set of traffic lights the mopeds would pull up next to them on either side of the car and just looked shady.

‘Then when Marcel and his friend pulled into a side street to park up they saw the mopeds head towards them again. Each moped had two people on and they kind of circled around the car.’

The source added: ‘As Marcel opened his car door two of the gang got off the bikes and went for him with their machetes drawn swinging them at him. So he quickly closed the door and they locked the car from the inside.’

Marcel, who rose to fame as a member of Blazin’ Squad before going on Love Island, and his friend then ‘sped off’ to safety.

It was noted that luckily nobody was hurt, and the vehicle ‘just had a few scratches on it’.

It comes after Marcel recently shared his exciting engagement news, after popping the question to Rebecca.

The reality TV contestant – who appeared in the third season of the ITV2 dating programme – and his new fiancee announced they were expecting their first child in July.
