Keith Flint had a secret friendship with former glamour girl Jodie Marsh.
The Prodigy star was found dead at his home in Essex on Monday after taking his own life aged 49.
Jodie was among the first to pay tribute to him after the heartbreaking news emerged, and she opened up about her secret bond with the outrageous frontman.
She revealed they talked regularly after becoming friends due to their shared love of dogs.
Jodie, who also lives in Essex, tweeted: "He was such a lovely guy and a massive animal lover.
"We used to speak at length about our love of dogs. I can’t believe it. I’m in shock."
Keith had several dogs and was even seen buying steak dinners for his beloved pooches during trips to Essex pubs.
He was reportedly seen out with one of his furry friends in Chelmsford just three days before he died.
A source told The Sun : "He was there with one of his dogs, a mixed breed one, and he bought the dog a whole steak, saying it was the dog’s birthday and it was a treat.
“He was a huge dog lover – I think he had about seven or eight dogs – and you’d always see him in the local village walking them.
“He was so kind as well – he’d often offer to cut elderly neighbour’s hedges or help out with their garden.”
While just two days before he died Keith was spotted by fans at the Chelmsford Central Park Run, which he completed in a personal best time of 21m 22s.
Yesterday it was reported the musician had been found dead at his Essex mansion after taking his own life aged 49.
Confirming his shock death in an emotional statement on the band’s Instragram page, current members Liam Howlett and Leeroy Thornhill revealed it was suicide.
"The news is true, I can’t believe I’m saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend," they wrote.
"I’m shell shocked, f**kin angry, confused and heart broken ….. r.i.p brother Liam #theprodigy"
