Eamonn Holmes has revealed why he was forced to miss presenting This Morning alongside wife Ruth Langsford last week.
The 58-year-old took to social media on Friday evening to tell fans he’s suffering from shingles, which is an infection of an individual nerve and the skin surface.
Symptoms include a burning pain, inflammation and a blistering skin rash. It’s caused by the same virus as chickenpox and an episode can last from two to four weeks.
The TV star shared a close-up picture of his painful swollen and blistered face and wrote alongside it: "I know I look as though I’ve been in a scrap but honestly I haven’t.
"It’s worse than that – it’s Shingles."
His followers immediately flooded the post with their well wishes, telling him to feel better soon.
"Oh no it’s awful I’ve had shingles twice in my face it’s awful," one wrote.
A second shared: "Aww no! I’m sure @ruthlangsford will take good care of you xx get well soon."
While a third added: "I feel your pain!! I currently have shingles as well. wouldn’t wish the pain on anyone. wishing you a speedy recovery."
It’s unclear who will replace Eamonn on This Morning as Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield are currently enjoying a family holiday together in Portugal.

The married couple have been on the TV together for around 12 years, since Eamonn took over hosting This Morning from Phillip Schofield on a Friday, some years after they got together in the late 90s
