Former Liverpool midfielder and Match of the Day pundit Danny Murphy has cast his Premier League top four predictions ahead of the upcoming season – and there’s no place for Arsenal.
The 2018/19 season kicks off on Friday when Manchester United host Leicester City at Old Trafford.
Manchester City are the favourites to defend their crown while Liverpool have impressed in the summer transfer window.
Both Arsenal and Chelsea have new managers, while Manchester United have struggled in pre-season.
Spurs meanwhile, will be moving into their new 62,000-seater stadium.
So how does Murphy see the top four playing out this season?
"I think the gap is too big to breach so quickly for some of the other teams chasing, like Liverpool and [Manchester] United. For me, I think City will be champions again," he said via the Express .
"They are an exquisite team now. Their confidence, their ability to rotate players and their ability to win even when not playing brilliantly is there for all to see.
"That game against Chelsea – although it’s only a Community Shield – just reiterates the competition they have for places. They won that game without three of their best players.
"For me, my top four would be City, then Liverpool, United and Tottenham."
