Maths whizz Carol Vorderman, 59, who is best known for presenting BBC Radio Wales, has opened up about her childhood days while revealing one aspect she “loathed” when she “grew up”. The former Countdown presenter spoke out before her radio show via Twitter this morning.
I grew up.
It comes as Carol tweeted in view of her 453,000 followers: “Morning lovelies.
“On air at 1130 on @BBCRadioWales for a bit of a laugh and some great music.”
The radio presenter then asked for requests from her listeners for her show.
“For your mention answer this,” Carol added.
“What hand-me-downs did you have as a child which you LOVED or LOATHED??” which was followed by two laughing face emojis.
The star confessed: “I grew up on hand me downs.
“Don’t think I had any new clothes until I was 9.”
One keen fan responded: “My younger sister, Joanne used to hate getting hand-me-downs from me and my twin as she obviously got double of monstrosities like these jumpers!”
Another fan asked: “Only as a child?!
“My mother tried to hand me down a top last week, and I’m 46!!!
“She knows very well that we have completely different taste in clothes, so I don’t know why she bothers!!”
A third could relate to Carol’s admission as they also penned: “Yeah I grew up on hand me downs the biggest problem with that is it was my sisters the mini skirts were the worst.”

The presenter’s confession comes just days after she showcased her toned and tanned legs in a stylish mini dress.
Alongside a snap to show off her golden tan, Carol wrote: “Morning lovelies… tea and toast time.
In the social media post, Carol sported a mini dress with short sleeves as she posed in her stunning kitchen.
It wasn’t long before many Twitter users rushed to the comment section to express their thoughts.
One commented: “Looking very summery and lovely this morning Carol, perfect combination for tea and toast. X.”
Another shared: “Quick question! Do you put the milk in first or last?”
A third kindly remarked: “Imagine being able to be this flawless at 6.30am.”
“Good morning. Stop looking so bl**dy good at this time of the day,” one person revealed.
