Jonnie Irwin did not hold back after spotting a brutal message from a Twitter user. The A Place In The Sun presenter soon hit back at the person in question, suggesting they “go back to bed”.
Is Johnnie Irwin the most patronising person on TV?
The 48-year-old and @Roydini25 shared a number of messages back and forth on the micro-blogging site.
The former even pointed out the irony to them in view of his own 19,000 followers.
Their spat came about after the official account for the programme shared infomation about a recent instalment.
It read: “We chatted to today’s house hunters (and @jonnieirwin) to find out what happened after the cameras stopped rolling in Tenerife. Watch the full interview here.”
It was then that the viewer took a swipe at Jonnie, which he did not take too kindly too.
They wrote: “Is Johnnie Irwin the most patronising person on TV?”(sic)
The Channel 4 presenter fired back: “There, there Roy my little sweetheart settle down.
“Why don’t you go back to bed and have yourself a nice l little nap.”(sic)
“There’s the proof,” @Roydini25 stated bluntly in reply.
Father-of-three Jonnie went on: “Oh dear Roy, you and irony aren’t close friends, are you… #troll.”
To which the user replied: “But I am close friends with dignity and humility. Look them up.”
This was not the only exchange between them, with the viewer complaining about the programme more broadly.
They tweeted in response to the official account once again: “Can you please stop advising sale prices with the irritating ‘a half’ at the end after each price.
“Why bother to say £152 and a half thousand! Just round up to the nearest thousand @jonnieirwin @Jasmineharman.”
Jonnie stated: “We round it to the nearest ‘irritating’ half thousand because £500 is a lot of money to some people!”
Thankfully there was support out there for the APITS regular.
willieckerslike tweeted: “No, he seems a thoroughly nice person who puts the house viewers at their ease. Next question…”
Jonnie wrote back: “Thanks, very kind.”
The star has fronted the daytime property favourite since 2004. He has also appeared in the likes of Escape to the Country and To Buy or Not to Buy.
A Place In The Sun continues tomorrow at 4pm on Channel 4.
