‘RRR’ starring Ram Charan and NTR, is a fictional story based on Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, inspired by ‘Motorcycle Diaries’
At a press meet on Wednesday, director SS Rajamouli revealed the final cast and the setting of his film RRR. The biggest announcement of the day was that Bollywood actors Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn have been roped in for prominent roles. While Alia will romance Ram Charan, British actor Daisy Edgar Jones has been paired opposite NTR. Tamil actor Samuthirakani will play a crucial role.
Set in the 1920s pre-independent India, the entirely fictional story is based on two legendary freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju (played by Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (NTR), both legendary Telugu freedom fighters from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh respectively. The actors essay the younger versions of the legends, staying away from their homes (in Delhi), before they began to fight for the country. Interestingly, Rajamouli stated that the inspiration for RRR came from the Hollywood classic, The Motorcycle Diaries.
Director Rajamouli also shared that six months will be given to VFX work, post shooting.
Produced by DVV Entertainments at an estimated budget of ₹350 – 400 crores, RRR has Rajamouli’s favourites — Senthil Kumar and SS Keeravani — as cinematographer and music director respectively. Keeravani had previously tweeted that Suddala Ashok Teja had begun writing lyrics for RRR.
While RRR will be the common title for all languages, the expansions will be different. Rajamouli has invited suggestions from people on what would be appropriate in different languages.
RRR is scheduled to release worldwide on July 30, 2020.
