Hollyoaks star Daisy Wood-Davis has spoken about her exit from the show for the first time, insisting it was the right moment for her character Kim Butterfield to go.
Next week’s episodes see Kim leave the village after four years, realising that she needs a fresh start after problems in her relationship with Farrah Maalik.
Fed up with feeling so insecure and paranoid over Farrah’s connection with Grace Black, Kim decides to leave Chester behind.
Speaking to Inside Soap about her exit and why it makes sense, Daisy explained: “It’s really weird! It’s been about a month since I left and it already feels like a long time. I never expected to be there forever, but this is definitely the end of an era.
“Kim’s had some incredible storylines and has been brilliantly unhinged! But since her sister Lindsey died, she hasn’t had any family – she’s done really well surviving in the village for as long as she has.
“I’m auditioning for some exciting things and I have a big cooking event that’s happening in Manchester on November 16. I’ll keep up with Hollyoaks as my boyfriend Luke [Jerdy, who plays Jesse Donovan] is still in it.”
Kim’s final scenes offer a nod to her kidnap ordeal earlier this year, which saw her become fixated on a Rick Astley poster.
Much to Kim’s surprise, Rick is waiting at the bus stop with her as she prepares to leave – so is she going out in style?
Daisy added: “I think it’s up to the audience to decide if it’s real, or if it’s just in Kim’s head. It’s such a funny thing for Kim to take away from the show, people tweet me about his songs all the time.”
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
