Emmerdale is lining up another big shock for Debbie Dingle tonight (November 9) as she receives a text from Joe Tate’s phone.
Debbie (Charley Webb) was left heartbroken when Joe disappeared on their wedding day last month, believing that he walked out on her and cut all contact.
In reality, viewers know that Joe is dead after hitting his head when Debbie’s father Cain (Jeff Hordley) punched him. Graham Foster then appeared to finish off the job later on, when he moved the body and spotted Joe’s finger twitching.
Last night’s episode saw Debbie receive a December date for her trial over Ross Barton’s acid attack, but the turmoil keeps on coming in Friday’s scenes.
With Debbie clearly needing Joe’s support more than ever right now, her parents rally around her – vowing to be there whatever the outcome.
However, as Charity tries to console a distraught Debbie over Joe, they’re both left stunned when she receives a text from his phone reading: “I’m sorry.”
With Graham or Cain both hiding guilty secrets regarding Joe’s demise, it’s clear that one of them has sent Debbie the text to make her feel better about the situation.
But which of them is responsible? And will it have the desired effect or simply arouse Debbie’s suspicions over Joe’s disappearance?
Emmerdale airs these scenes tonight at 7pm on ITV.
