Responding to #connectustomangalore twitter campaign on Friday, Union Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda wrote to State Public Works Minister H.D. Revanna urging him to throw open Shiradi Ghat to regular traffic at the earliest.
In his letter, Mr. Sadananda Gowda said that thousands of people from the coastal areas have settled down in Bengaluru and surrounding areas.
They are now finding it extremely difficult to commute following the closure of Shiradi Ghat. According to his sources, the ghat stretch could be restored within a week, Mr. Sadananda Gowda said.
He said that the stretch inaugurated by Mr. Revanna himself some time ago has been declared non-motorable, which is not true. The department should open the ghat road in the interest of the common man, the Minister urged.
Meanwhile, Save Shiradi Committee president Sanjith Shetty on Friday smelt a rat behind the government’s decision to close the Shiradi Ghat for over five months.
