The State Government has sanctioned funds for repairing 1,990 old houses in Virudhunagar district that had been constructed 25 years back under various Government schemes.
In a statement, the Collector, A. Sivagnanam, said that each house would get Rs. 50,000 for the repairing works under which the owner can take up all or any one of the following works involving renovation of roof, repairing of walls that had developed cracks, damaged doors and windows and plastering of walls. However, those houses that do not have any of the above mentioned problems cannot claim funds for white-washing the house.
Eligible owners of houses that are 25 years old can apply with documents with Panchayat office, Panchayat Union Officer or at the Collectorate.
