A complaint was lodged against Congress leader Shashi Tharoor at Saidabad police station for his alleged ‘scorpion’ remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, police said the case will be registered only after seeking legal opinion on the complaint.
City-based lawyer K. Karuna Sagar, in a complaint, accused Mr Tharoor of hurting religious sentiments of a section of people in his recent statement about Mr Modi. Speaking at an event in Bengaluru, the Thiruvananthapuram MP had reportedly described Mr Modi as ‘scorpion sitting on a shivling’. “You can’t remove him with your hand, and you cannot hit it with a chappal either,” Mr Tharoor had said.
Mr. Karuna Sagar, in his complaint, has stated, “Shivling is worshipped as an anionic representation of the Hindu deity lord Shiva. Dr Shashi Tharoor has resorted to insult and annoy Hindus by passing derogatory remarks denunciating the sanctity of Shivling openly without having any fear of law.”
