Liam Payne looked tense as he attended a fashion party in London last night.
The 25-year-old looked downcast as he left The National Portrait Gallery after attending a party celebrating Edward Enninful’s one-year anniversary as Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue.
The usually happy chappy couldn’t raise a smile after Cheryl called her ex “f***er” in her comeback single and opened up about her home life.
Cheryl herself insists the lyric isn’t about Liam after their July split as she sings: "I’m such a sucker, I fall in love with every f***er."
She insisted yesterday: "All the music and songs I’ve got ready were done way before we split… none of them are about anybody."
Cheryl, 35, and Liam started dating after she split from second hubby Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini.
She has also opened up about the difficulty of arranging childcare for baby Bear.
The mum-of-one admitted that it’s taken "a lot of adjusting" for her to go back to work after taking time out of her career to look after her son.
And she only feels comfortable leaving 21-month-old Bear with family if she needs to go away overnight.
"Anything more than 9am to 6pm or overnight and I’m like: ‘Mam I’m gonna be there for two nights’," she said.
"She’s always there to be fair to her or his parents come down as well, they’re very good as well."
But while she credited Liam’s parents with helping out – there was no mention of the man himself.
Cheryl also revealed that it didn’t "feel natural" for her to leave Bear at first.
"I refused to leave his side for 16 months, it’s only recently I’ve started getting help and I wanted that," she said.
"It didn’t feel natural for me, and I know a lot of people don’t even have that choice, they have to go back to work so I felt like I had such a luxury in time being able to have a year with my son.
"Then after a year I was like, there’s no way I could let somebody I don’t know take him, I just couldn’t fathom it."
So Cheryl has relied on family to help out with the childcare.
Meanwhile, Cheryl also revealed that she’d love her mum Joan Callaghan to move in to her Surrey mansion to help her look after baby Bear.
The revelation comes after she split from Bear’s dad Liam Payne over the summer.
"Who’s got the baby tonight?" she was asked on fellow singer Jessie Ware’s new podcast Table Manner.
"Me Mam," she admitted.
"I make her travel across the country with me a lot, she still lives in Newcastle.
"I don’t know how she does it."
Jessie asks: "Would you ever live with her?"
"I would like her to live with me but she will not she doesn’t love London, she’s a proper Geordie."
Meanwhile, Cheryl revealed why she took a four-year break from the industry.
The pop singer, who is gearing up to release her comeback single this Friday, admitted she had to take the time out "for her sanity".
The former X Factor judge said: “I needed it for my sanity. I honestly didn’t know how much I needed it until I did it. I’d just had enough.
“I wasn’t inspired, I was jaded. It felt like a negative space I was living in and then you get to the point where it’s like, ‘what is the point?’
She added to The Sun: “I could be doing something I hate doing and feel the same way, so why am I like putting myself through this? I like a balance. I like peace and harmony in my life.”
Cheryl also insisted she wasn’t calling ex Liam Payne a “f***er” in the new track.
But you could be forgiven for thinking she was considering Love Made Me Do It will be her first single since their July split and she sings: “I’m such a sucker, I fall in love with every f***er.”
“That’s the easiest thing for the critics to write,” she says of claims Liam is the “f***er” she fell for.
“But actually, all the music and songs I’ve got ready were done way before we split… none of them are about anybody.”
The lyrics also imply Cheryl is ready to move on as she sings: “Love made me do it… and I’d do it again.”
