When newlywed Gwyneth Paltrow said she lives half the week apart from her husband on the advice of her intimacy coach, eyebrows were raised.
But by now her whacky ways of achieving wellness shouldn’t surprise us.
After all, Gwyneth has already brought the world new phrases, like ‘conscious uncoupling’ which is Gwynnie-speak for divorce.
GP – as her friends call her – likes to do things her way.
So while many of us would consider drunk dancing with our friends to “I Will Survive” as adequate break-up therapy, Gwyneth, 46, recently took ex husband Chris Martin and his new partner Dakota Johnson on honeymoon with her new groom Brad Falchuk.
To make their romantic holiday even more family friendly, her daughter Apple, 15, and son Moses, 13, came along too.
It’s easy to dismiss all her usual ways as Hollywood nonsense.
But even in the impossibly glossy showbiz world, few look as naturally as good as Gwyneth.
And although flogging such wonders as jade vaginal eggs, £10,000 crystal sex toys and extolling the virtues of vaginal steaming caused much mirth, her Goop website is now worth £200 million.
It looks like Gwyneth’s having the last laugh.
So is it time we all tried her bee-sting facials, B12 shots and alkaline water?
Should we start paying attention to her yawn lessons and taking infrared saunas?

Coffee and smoothie, made with everyday pantry staples abhwagandha, vanilla mushroom protein powder and Moon Juice dust.
Never tried Moon Juice dust?
How on earth are you eating without the powdered blend of goji, popular Chinese medicine ingredient rehmannia, potent super berry schisandra, pearl and stevia?
Advice on Gwyneth’s Goop website says: “Choose your Moon Juice moon dust depending on what the day ahead holds…brain before a long day at the office, sex dust before a date, etc.”
But Gwynnie, we’re not even awake yet!
GP makes a breakfast of eggs on toast for daughter Apple and son Moses.
Then she ensures they drink a little lemon flavoured flaxseed oil (bet they love that).
But Gwyneth says her smoothie usually fills her up so she doesn’t often eat breakfast.
But when she does it’s eggs with salmon or avocado with a sprinkling of child flakes.
No Frosties then?
After dropping the kids off at school, GP works out.
She’s a devotee – and investor in – the Tracy Anderson Method so does an aerobics class, sometimes with weights strapped to her ankles.
That’s followed by an hour of butt lifts in the gym, then she stretches of in the shower.
Gwyneth dry brushes using a professional strength brush rom her own range (£18), then uses Five Salt Detox Body Scrub (£36) on her skin and her shampoo of choice is G.Tox Himalayan Salt Scalp Scrub (£38).
If there’s time, she treats herself to an infrared sauna because “it’s really detoxifying. It’s a real gift to myself".
Achieving a complexion as fresh, unlined and glowy as Gwyneth’s takes a lot of time, effort and expense.
She has a pre-work facial that involves “hardcore squeezing, peeling, microdermabrasion and lasers – the works”.
Then it’s off to work in her Goop office where Gwyneth says she does “ten thousand million things – and sometimes even read a script in the middle of that.”
Gwyneth’s likes a clean diet and avoids carbs whenever she can.
Big salads with brown rice are a fave, and sometimes she switches up the brown rice with quinoa for an exciting twist.
GP shared some of her lunch bowls on her website, including a tuna tomato bowl and a black bean, corn and avocado bowl.
Then it’s back to interviews, calls and edits for her Goop website.
Moses and Apple have some after-school activities and Gwyneth usually does the school pick up.
The kids have a nutritious meal of brown rice and baked sweet potato.
Sometimes a babysitter makes the kids’ tea if she’s going out for dinner with friends but even in restaurants she tries to pick healthy options, avoiding “highly processed foods and high-fructose corn syrup.
Gwyneth says she’s “very partial” to a glass of red wine or dirty vodka martini cocktail.
Each day ends with a bath.
And, if she follows her own advice, Gwynnie might even have a good old chat with the bath water.
Because in 2014, she claimed saying negative things to water can hurt its feelings.
She was fascinated by the work of Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto, who believes human consciousness has a direct effect on water.
Gwyneth said: “In his experiments, Emoto poured pure water into vials labelled with negative phrases like 'I hate you' or ‘Fear’.
"After 24 hours, the water was frozen, and no longer crystallised under the microscope: It yielded grey, misshapen clumps instead of beautiful lace-like crystals.
“In contrast, Emoto placed labels that said things like 'I love you' or 'Peace' on vials of polluted water, and after 24 hours, they produced gleaming, perfectly hexagonal crystals."
Her night time facial routine beauty products that total £328, including Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical serum which is £175 and a £105 pot of Dr Barbara Sturm eye cream.
Even when she’s cleaning her teeth, Gwyneth has an alternative method to boring old Colgate.
She’s a fan of oil pulling to keep her Hollywood smile.
“You swish coconut oil around [in your mouth] for 20 minutes.
"It’s supposed to be great for oral health and making your teeth white.”
We tried it, we gagged – and that wasn’t a good look.
Even when Gwyneth tires, she still tries to yawn in the correct way.
She learned this from Michael Lear, who she says is “a wonderful yogi and important quarterback for mindfulness and meditation.”
Michael says yawning is an “important mechanism for releasing stress" and is vey strict about how to do it just right.
The first step is to “gently tilt your head back to a comfortable position and allow your mouth to hang open widely while you gently extend into it.”
The remaining steps include "Ujjayi breathing,” allowing your shoulders to get in on the action, and “riding the yawn to stretch the jaw muscles.”
Sorry Gwyneth, it’s hard to take this seriously. I’m afraid it’s time for us to consciously uncouple.
